Rory’s Scones

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk see note

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F and place a rack in the center. Line a baking sheet with a silicone mat.
  • Measure all the dry ingredients into a medium bowl, then mix thoroughly.
  • Pour the buttermilk into the center, and quickly mix everything together. Once everything is mixed, turn dough out on your silicone mat.
  • Dust the top of the dough with flour, and press down until the dough is about 3/4 of an inch thick.
  • Using a dough scraper, cut the scones into pieces about an inch square, and just barely separate.
  • Slide them in the oven for 18 minutes, rotating halfway through.

We always try to make our own buttermilk.
