We’re Going Green!

weekly CSA produce share
Salads are coming our way. Yay!

It seems as though we have enough greens to have a salad, or some other greens, every day of the week. Nothing wrong with that, of course; after all, greens are packed full of nutrition, and, when they’re super-fresh, grown outdoors in the bright sunshine, they’re packed full of flavor, too. For example, if you ever get to taste the difference between arugula grown in a greenhouse and that grown in an open field, you wouldn’t believe they’re the same plant. Grown outside, where they’re attacked by bugs, are hit with wind, rain, and sun, make for sturdier plants. Plants that had to create a lot of flavonoids to survive. Which, to us, taste good.

This week’s share:

  • Oranges (3)
  • Cilantro (a bunch) — traded for more oranges
  • Chinese cabbage (1 bunch)
  • Salad mix (1 bag)
  • Arugula (1 bunch)
  • Hakurei turnips (1 bunch)
  • Toscano Kale (1 bunch)
  • Red potatoes (2)
