Something New From the Fields

weekly CSA produce share
Cutting celery? That’s a new one for us. It’s right in the middle of the picture toward the top.

We’ve been part of the CSA for, well, going on nine years, so you think we would have seen every type of produce that grows in Arizona. But, no. Every once in a while, our farmer seems to throw us a curve ball just to keep us on our toes. This week it was cutting celery, which sounds like an action that takes place in the kitchen, but is really a type of celery that can be cut (harvested) repeatedly. Who knew?

This week’s share:

  • Arugula (1 bag)
  • Red beets (1 bunch)
  • Salad mix (1 bag)
  • Cutting celery (1 bunch)
  • Grapefruit (3)
  • Sweet potatoes (4)
  • Yellow carrots (1 bunch) — tops left for the chickens
  • I’itoi onions (1 bunch)
