Greens of Spring

weekly CSA produce share
Romaine lettuce is one of our favorites!

We haven’t been posting recipes this week because we’ve been having too much fun with visitors in for a few days, and we can say that it can be a lot more fun taking in some of the sights than taking photos of food. Not that we don’t enjoy photos of food; we’ll be getting back to it soon.

So, this week, in our CSA share we picked up:

  • Beets (1 bunch)
  • Carrots (1 bunch)
  • Dandelion greens (1 bunch, traded for more beets)
  • Gold onions (3)
  • Red potatoes (5)
  • Kohlrobi (1 bunch)
  • Romaine lettuce (2 heads)
  • Plant start (1)

For the plant start, we selected an artichoke, hoping that the javelina will be less likely to devour it than the other starts we’ve gotten over the years because of its prickly leaves. Since javelina will eat prickly pear cactus, we aren’t sure how that will turn out, but we think we might have a better chance with an artichoke than with cauliflower.
