A Nearly Perfect Share

weekly CSA produce share
Everything in this week’s share is a vegetable that we love eating! A perfect CSA share.

With most shares we pick up from the CSA, there are some things we like better than others. And, occasionally, something we just don’t like — thank goodness for that trading table. Then, there are pickups such as this one: chock-a-block with things we just love, including:

  • Beets (1 bunch)
  • Carrots (1 bunch)
  • Sweet potatoes (4)
  • Oranges (5)
  • Collard greens (1 bunch)
  • Salad mix (1 bag)
  • Hakurei turnips (1 bunch)
  • Swiss chard (1 bunch)

Just about the only way this could be better would be if we were told the varieties of each of the vegetables. Yes, there are varieties of vegetables, hundreds of them, in fact. And, for some vegetables, our favorites are specific varieties, such as mokum carrots, gold beets,  Beauregard sweet potatoes, and hakurei turnips. Knowing what variety we’re tasting is half the battle (our farmer lists some varieties in the share, but not all, and not all the time).
