Looks Like Summer!

weekly CSA produce share
A nice mix of vegetables showing the transition of crops as we move from summer to fall.

A quick glance at the vegetables we picked up this week makes it seem as though summer hasn’t left us. Because many of these vegetables are ripe and ready in the middle of summer, you may wonder what they’re doing in our share this week. It’s partly the hot Arizona climate, but it’s also because our farmer, wisely, grows crops in several locations throughout the state. Some at low elevations (hot), and some at higher elevations (cool), These geographical differences are part of what allows us to pick up shares with okra (summer crop) along with hard squash (fall crop).

This week we received:

  • Cantaloupe (1)
  • Yellow onions (2)
  • Okra (1 basket)
  • Roma tomatoes (1 basket)
  • Bell peppers (4)
  • Japanese eggplant (6)
  • Winter squash (3)
  • Roasted pistachios (1 bag)
