Wow! Look at that Load of Greens!

weekly CSA produce share
Chard! Beets! Daikons! All with lovely greens!

We knew it was going to happen! Being a member of the CSA for more than five years prepares one for days like this. Days of greens, greens, and more greens! Not that we’re complaining; after all, we picked up several bunches of some of our favorites: chard and beets. And look at that summer squash. It’s huge! But, if you think that’s big, we selected one of the smaller squashes. Some squash were the size of our legs.

Altogether we received:

  • Swiss Chard (1 bunch)
  • Summer squash (1 huge)
  • Beets (1 bunch)
  • Gold potatoes (4)
  • Rapini (1 bunch) traded for a second bunch of beets
  • Daikon radishes (1 bunch)
  • Red onion (1)
  • Head of lettuce (1)

We’re glad to get the first daikons of the season, since we’ve waited for over a year to try out a pickled daikon recipe. Don’t worry, you’ll see that it’s super easy. The only other thing we have immediate plans for is the daikon greens, which we’ll cook up with tomatoes and use to fill fresh whole-wheat tortillas. Yum! What a great lunch!
