Yum, the first okra of the season! We just happen to love okra; we know some people who think it’s slimy, and it can be — if you boil it. But, if you batter and fry it, okra is crispy and delicious. We also just happen to love gumbo — which means okra, by the way — too, and we’ll be making that sometime. But, this first batch will hit the skillet!
The other produce this week:
- Gold potatoes (4)
- Glendale Gold Onions (3)
- Tomatoes (2 baskets)
- Tomatillos (1 basket) which we traded for four more taters.
- Sweet potatoes (3)
- Green beans (1 bag)
So, the okra is set. Tomatoes will go into fresh tomato salads and fresh tomato toppings for pizza. The rest, well, we’ll figure out something.
