It’s been two weeks since we’ve picked up our CSA produce. We missed it. A lot. Once you get used to fresh vegetables, anything from the store is definitely second-rate.
Anyway, we received:
- Swiss Chard (1 bunch)
- Spinach (1 bag)
- Purple Top Turnips (1 bunch)
- Fennel ( 1 bunch)
- Easter Egg Radishes (1 bunch)
- Sweet potatoes (5)
- Tuscan Kale (1 bunch)
- Green Cabbage (1 head)
Let’s see what we do with some of these this week.
Update 27 March. Half of the cabbage went into a batch of Haluski, which was a completely new dish for us. The radishes, we just munched as a crunchy snack throughout the week. Turnips became mashed turnips with a mushroom gravy (mashed turnips are not unlike mashed potatoes). Several of the sweet potatoes made their way into Rosemary Sage Oven Fries (we still talk about how good those were). The kale helped out in some Tuscan Bean Soup, Spinach and Chard were sides, and finally the turnip greens and radish greens made for a delicious batch of Greens Latkes.
